Bioderma Vs. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - The Battle Of The Night Makeup Removers

Bioderma Vs. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - The Battle Of The Night Makeup Removers

I wear makeup almost every day. Not because I feel I need it, I just have way too much that I cannot possibly use in all my life time so I like to pile it on. However, I make it one of my top priorities to go to bed near naked - on the face, that is!

I have the likes of the Shu Uemura oil cleanser (which I LOVE, by the way) and a few other face washes I keep near my bathroom sink.

But for most nights I use products that are easy to use, that only require a cotton pad and will only take me minutes to use.
I'm currently swapping (read: testing) between Bioderma and Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water

Both promise to do the same job and to help the skin in similar ways but which one do I prefer?

Bioderma has been a cult beauty product for some time now. Definitely after a few top makeup artists (aka - Lisa Eldridge) gave the brand a BIG shotout. But until recently Bioderma was only available in France or in selected stores in London as well as on a handful of online shops. This gave us (makeup lovers) the urgent feel that we NEEDED this miracle product. At least I get that feeling when access to a beauty product is restricted.
Luckily, Bioderma realised the massive UK market opportunity and it's now stocked in more places.
I bought 2 sets (4 bottles) when I visited France a year or so ago and I remember paying something like 10-15 Euros for two bottles.

Garnier, on the other hand, has been around in the UK market for ages now. In general I like their products, especially their toner, so I wasn't surprised when they decided to jump on the Micellar Water van wagon. You can pretty much find Garnier anywhere such as pharmacies and supermarkets. Their range is quite affordable too which is always a plus!

Both products look VERY similar from the bottles. They are this clear water with a tiny bit of foam (the Garnier foams a tiny bit more) and you are meant to use a cotton pad or a tissue and then gently rub it on your face. They are both fragrance free and none of them leave a film or residue on your face.

Let's make this short and sweet! In my honest opinion the Garnier is a much better product than Bioderma. That's it - I said it!
I'm sure a lot of you will be shocked but it's true. Bioderma is VERY nice and gentle but I feel I need to use more product or leave the area (say an eyelid) to soak the product a bit more before I can see that it's all gone. The Garnier Micellar Water seems (to me) to be more powerful and take make up off faster with very little product.
As you can see from the images below I used a fair bit of both so I can totally make an informed decision as to which one I prefer.

Without a doubt, in my honest opinion,  the Micellar Cleansing Water by Garnier is better than the Bioderma!
The even better point is that the Garnier Micellar Water in normally about £4 and the Bioderma is about £9.

Try it and let me know what you think but in my battle of the night makeup removers there's only one winner and that's the Garnier product.

You can get Bioderma here and you can get the Micellar Cleansing Water by Garnier here
